ADRIENNE PRINCIPE, FOUNDER and president

With a diverse educational background in Mass Media, Interpersonal Communication, English, and Political Science, Adrienne Principe brings a wealth of passion and a unique perspective to Turning Life On. Motivated by the desire for her four children to experience a hands-free, heads-up childhood, Adrienne aims to help them develop the skills needed to coexist safely with technology and grow into responsible, resilient, and empathetic adults.

As a certified Child and Teen Coach, Adrienne is well-versed in the latest research on technology and child development. She works closely with parents, educators, and community leaders, providing thoughtful strategies for achieving intentional and mindful technology use in both homes and schools. Adrienne is the co-founder of Concord Promise and a founding member of the Screens in Schools Working Group for the Children’s Screen Time Action Network. She is also a regular presenter for the Massachusetts Partnership for Youth, a contributor on the “Live Above the Noise” Podcast, and a writer for the Family Online Safety Institute’s Good Digital Parenting Blog. Most recently, Adrienne joined the MA Coalition for Phone and Social Media-Free Schools.

In addition to her advocacy work, Adrienne serves as an Emerson Health Corporator and on the Emerson Health Foundation Board of Directors. Fun fact: She spent an unreasonable amount of time writing notes in middle school! You can reach her at adrienne@turninglifeon.org.

Adrienne lives in Concord with her husband, their four very busy and very different kiddos, and their dog, Gus.

Jennifer Henderson, Vice President

Motivated by a deep passion for community organizing and connecting advocates, Jennifer Henderson serves as the Vice President of Turning Life On. As a mother, Jennifer became increasingly concerned about the growing influence of screen time on childhood development, as well as its broader effects on adults and society.

In 2021, Jennifer earned a Certificate in Digital Wellbeing from the Consciously Digital Institute, marking the beginning of her advocacy journey. Committed to changing the norms around digital technology use, she works tirelessly to provide resources and raise awareness on the topic. She co-chairs the MA Coalition for Phone & Social Media-Free Schools, with the ambitious goal of ensuring that all schools in Massachusetts become phone-free. Additionally, Jennifer serves as a board member at Smartphone Free Childhood U.S., furthering her mission to create healthier relationships with technology.

Professionally, Jennifer holds the position of Head of Supply Chain at a small rare disease pharmaceutical company, where she applies her leadership skills to navigate complex challenges. She resides in Stow with her husband, daughter, and their very active Australian Cattle Dog.

Jeff Miller, Treasurer

Jeff Miller serves as the Treasurer of Turning Life On. Living in Arlington, MA with his wife, two elementary-aged children, and two dogs, Jeff has become increasingly aware of the negative impacts technology has on social cohesion, particularly on childhood development. Motivated by these concerns, he began advocating in his community for initiatives like Wait Until 8th and phone-free schools. Through this advocacy, he realized the power of sharing ideas, strategies, and resources with nearby communities to create positive change.

Professionally, Jeff is the EVP of Strategy and Acquisition at Acxion Foodservice, a sales and marketing business. With a career that spans corporate strategy, private equity, investment banking, and strategy consulting, Jeff has served on 10 corporate boards. His expertise extends beyond the corporate world, as he also serves on several nonprofit boards, including Smartphone Free Childhood U.S., the Arlington Libraries Foundation, and the Humanist Chaplaincy at Harvard and MIT.

Jeff holds an A.B. in Economics from Harvard University.

Emily Boddy, Co-Secretary

Emily Boddy serves as a Co-Secretary of Turning Life On. She is on the leadership council for Smartphone Free Childhood US, is a member of the MA Coalition for Phone-Free and Social Media-Free Schools, and leads her local action alliance, ReConnect Western MA. Emily’s dedication to this work stems from her belief in the importance of meaningful, face-to-face connections for children and families, fostering  independence and resilience in kids, and her desire to create healthier, more balanced relationships with digital technology.

Emily holds a degree in Public Policy and has spent years working in the judicial system and nonprofit sector, focusing on youth wellbeing and engagement. Beyond her advocacy efforts, Emily is deeply involved in her community, where she serves as a Trustee on the board of her children’s Charter Public School, coaches girls’ youth soccer, and sings in a local choir.

Emily lives in Northampton, MA with her husband, two children, part-time dog, and a steady stream of her kids’ friends coming and going.

Wendi Hoffer, Co-Secretary

Wendi Hoffer serves as the Co-Secretary of Turning Life On and is a passionate advocate for creating a less digital, more human experience for children. Living in Lexington, MA with her husband and three diversely-abled children, Wendi brings a deeply personal perspective to her advocacy. Having raised a child with unique needs, she possesses a profound understanding of the challenges and opportunities the digital world presents, especially for vulnerable communities.

Motivated by a deep concern for the growing risks of cyberbullying and the overall impact of smartphones and social media on mental wellbeing, Wendi works tirelessly to promote awareness about the realities of a digital life for children. She has led community-building efforts in Lexington, where she actively engages local groups to foster healthier, more intentional technology use.

Currently working for a nonprofit organization and with experience leading one herself, Wendi is deeply committed, passionate, and driven by her desire to make a meaningful impact on the world.
