I am writing to invite you to join an exciting initiative that has just launched in our community called Turning Life On (TLO). TLO is an online platform that unites, informs and empowers parents, educators and those who care about healthy technology use by our children.

Parenting in the digital age is overwhelming and parents need support and access to information to make the best choices for their families. Turning Life On understands that a coalition of parents is more effective than a single voice and that grassroots is where it’s at. The goal is to bring local parents together so they can effectuate positive change in their families and in their communities.

TLO unites parents:

  • with a locally-based, public promise to delay giving a smartphone to your child until at least eighth grade in an effort to alleviate the social pressure to have a smartphone for parents and for kids.  

  • with an option to publicly support and join your local TLO community to promote healthy and safe technology use even if you are unable or unwilling to make the promise.

  • with an option to privately support so you can privately join your local TLO community and stay informed.

Through the Turning Life On platform, we will support ALL parents with educational events and partnerships with leading professionals in the field. Turning Life On will connect these medical and research professionals - all of whom are studying the effects of media on children and are willing to share information, advice and tips - with parents.

Turning Life On provides comprehensive resources and suggestions to assist parents and kids on the risks and responsibilities of technology use.

With support and information, our hope is that, together, we can make small changes to give our kids the gift of a hands-free, heads-up childhood.
